Our Story
Engineering the Amazing
Founded in 1928, Syska Hennessy has enjoyed nearly a century of success. What began as a two-person team is today a full-service engineering firm with 650 professionals and a global footprint comprising 20 offices.
Today, we specialize in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design, information and communication technology (ICT), and commissioning. Additional areas of expertise include architectural lighting, facility management, fire and life safety systems, decarbonization and energy efficiency, and smart building systems.
Our project portfolio is varied: We work on everything from small office buildings to hyperscale data centers in regions across the U.S. and the world, serving a wide range of sectors: commercial, mission-critical, aviation, healthcare, hospitality, higher education, and sci-tech. Key markets include North America, Asia, and the Middle East. But you can find our projects and teams in every corner of the globe.
The profession has changed significantly in recent decades and so have the techniques and tools we use. For example, we regularly apply energy and simulation modeling, design IoT systems, and deliver projects through design-build teams and public-private partnerships. We’re not sitting around patiently waiting for advances to emerge, either: We’re creating our own tools and techniques through our Syska Innovations subsidiary. One of the first products we launched is an app called Digiduct, a duct-sizing calculator. And there are many more underway.
Yet amid the rapid pace of advances, our guiding principle remains the same: to combine technical expertise with innovation. This approach has led to repeat work with prestigious clients and a wide range of honors and awards.
