Executive Principal, Practices
As Executive Principal for Syska Hennessy Group, John oversees the financial performance and management of our Global Practices and Western Region, while spearheading business development and the growth of the firm globally.
John began his career with Syska New York in 1997 and relocated to California in 2014. During his tenure in New York, he led the two global practice areas: ICT and Commissioning/Facilities Management. Under John’s leadership, each practice experienced year-over-year growth and increased market share. He also developed technical benchmarks and project management approaches that have been adopted throughout the Syska organization and that have helped position the firm as a recognized industry standard-setter.
John holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University. He is a licensed professional engineer, a registered communications distribution designer (RCDD) and holds an Associate Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification. He is a member of the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), 7×24 Exchange International, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Project Management Institute (PMI), ACE Mentor Program Board, and USC Architectural Guild Board.
Outside of work, John is a member of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and actively coaches and promotes girls’ flag football. He’s also an avid snowboarder who loves chasing the ultimate powder around the world.
