As President and CEO of Syska Hennessy Group, Inc., Cyrus Izzo leads one of the world’s preeminent engineering firms, with over 650 professionals across 20 offices. Cyrus, who joined Syska in 1993 as an electrical engineer, became President and CEO in 2023. He has pioneered the development of the firm’s capabilities in consulting, information and communications technology (ICT), and commissioning, overseen a geographic expansion into Dubai and Shanghai, codified best practices, and established a collaborative and diverse management team to lead the firm’s future growth.
In 2005, Cyrus founded Syska’s first global practice, Critical Facilities, which led to the firm’s ranking by Engineering News-Record as one of the top three mission-critical engineering firms in the world. Under Cyrus’s guidance, the practice has designed core systems for some of the world’s most important data centers and trading floors. He continues to be a hands-on leader, managing several of the firm’s key client relationships and projects with organizations such as JPMorgan Chase, HOK, Gensler, BlackRock, CBRE Group, and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Additionally, Cyrus is responsible for launching the subsidiary Syska Innovations, LLC, and facilitating the founding of AEC Angels, a venture fund covering seed through Series B + investments.
Cyrus is excited about the future. “When I think about how our engineers leverage technology and high-performance, sustainable solutions, it inspires me,” he says. “I get to help our clients execute some of the most uniquely challenging projects in the world.”
Cyrus was a recent recipient of the New York Building Congress Guest of Honor Award which recognized his leadership and contributions to engineering innovation. He was featured on Giordano’s The Anti-Architect podcast, where he discussed leadership philosophies, the future of the profession, and much more (Listen Here). He holds a BSEE from Manhattan College and is a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Cyrus also serves as the president of 7×24 Exchange International and as a board member of the New York Building Congress.
Outside of work, he enjoys boating, fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
