Sustainability and
Decarbonization
According to the World Green Building Council, buildings are responsible for 39% of carbon emissions globally. But there are many ways to reduce the carbon footprints of buildings, and our sustainability and decarbonization team helps our clients implement these strategies. The results are high-performance buildings that work with the earth’s resources instead of against them and support happy, healthy occupants, energy efficiency, and lower costs.
We begin each project by establishing quantifiable metrics, which guide our design, analysis, and simulation services. Metrics may include LEED or WELL certification or net-zero targets. Every project is different, but our work often touches on performance benchmarking, master planning, lifecycle analysis, design of low-energy systems, modeling, daylighting design, renewable energy generation, water-efficiency systems, and hybrid ventilation. Climate change may be inevitable, but as a signatory of MEP 2040, we and our clients are mitigating its effects.
