Project Overview

Supernal, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), Research & Development Facility, Fremont, California

Syska was hired by Supernal, a transportation technology company that was seeking to expand its presence in the Bay Area by converting an existing high-bay warehouse into office and R&D facilities suited for growth over the next five years. We worked collaboratively with the client stakeholder groups to identify their needs and determine how to best accomplish their goals for the project.

The resulting 72,500 sf building is being designed with flexibility and safety as key elements of the project, creating an environment of productivity, exploration, and testing including software, hardware, batteries, and prototypes. The project includes design of an innovative Micro-grid system to accommodate the battery testing demand and the need for additional electrical infrastructure. Syska also closely collaborated with the architect to provide a high-end exposed ceiling in the Open Office area.

In addition, Syska designed the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems for this project. Based on this work, the client engaged us to design the ICT systems for their headquarters in D.C. as part of their goal to standardize technology systems across all locations.

The project phases included programming and concept design through construction.
