C Spire Systems
Operations Center

C Spire, the nation’s largest privately held wireless provider, planned to build a new data center to support its expanding needs. Concurrently, C Spire was moving into a new revenue-generating business to provide hosting services due to the lack of colocation data centers in Mississippi.

Syska Hennessy Group was called upon to meet with C Spire, and literally overnight developed a high-level schematic plan for a new data center. C Spire immediately knew that having a partner like Syska, which understood the complexity of the project and the importance of the company’s investment, was essential to success, and retained us to perform the MEP design as well as provide consultation for technology and security, and Uptime Institute Tier Certification.

Syska developed an exceptionally robust and reliable Uptime Institute Tier IV Design Certified data center, one of only 52 such facilities in the world, which contained a colocation area C Spire could sell to its marketplace. In addition, this unique data center was built to withstand powerful storms, including tornados that occasionally pass through the area, producing winds up to 145 mph. In case of a power interruption, the mechanical and electrical systems will support over 750 KW of critical load and have multiple redundancy.

To meet future needs, this award-winning project was designed to be expandable. Syska also helped C Spire market the space, which is now occupied by several tenants.
