Inclusion & Belonging

Professionals across Syska Hennessy have one thing in common: They are all dedicated to excellence in their fields, whether those fields are MEP systems, technology, communications, high-performance design, or corporate specializations like HR and finance.

But there the similarities end. Our people come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring different perspectives and approaches to their roles at Syska.  We welcome this variety; it keeps us nimble and creative.  The ideas that are exchanged and the collaboration that results have led to almost a century of success.  By attracting the best and the brightest, regardless of where and how they’ve developed their skills, and by supporting them with a welcoming work environment, we can continue to engineer the amazing.

At Syska Hennessy, we are committed to making an impact on communities where people live and work. Each office nationally manages its own efforts while aiming for shared organizational goals: support for local programs that focus on environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and community outreach. Some examples include:

LeaderFlow

Syska Hennessy is a sponsor of LeaderFlow, a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the pipeline to leadership primarily for professionals of color in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Together we’re committed to empowering a community of diverse, passionate, and innovative future leaders.

Adept

Since its inception in 2021, the program has been dedicated to mentoring students, particularly those who are the first in their families to attend college. Jeff Martin, Associate Principal based in our Chicago office, was part of the founding group, which focuses on guiding students through their college journey, especially those interested in our industry. Each year, we continue to support students, providing them with the resources and mentorship they need to succeed.

Ace Mentorship

The ACE Mentor Program is a no-cost after-school program that connects high school students with expert mentors to engage and excite the next generation of AEC professionals. By prioritizing traditionally underrepresented students and communities, ACE Mentor strives to make the future of our industry a more diverse and better prepared workforce.

Syska Hennessy has been involved in various local ACE Mentor chapters throughout the country since it started, with professional engineers donating hundreds of hours of their time and expertise to help fulfill the ACE Mission, helping to secure tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships for students, and opening many opportunities for internships.
